Abstract

One of the most important goals of the education for sustainability is to promote the development of society's critical awareness regarding the commitment to environmental issues and their relationship to social, economic, political, cultural, scientific, technological and ethical aspects. The perspective of the association between environmental protection and human rights has gained relevance as long as the academic community recognizes that environmental degradation is a barrier for human beings to fully enjoy their rights and freedom. Among the different factors pointed to the small advance of education for sustainability and human rights, teacher education is highlighted as the most problematic. Thus, this research project aims to evaluate the characteristics and potentialities of teacher education program developed at Harvard University denominated as Harvard Teacher Fellows (HTF) regarding activities for educational equity. This research project will be developed under the international research network established between the Institute of Chemistry and Harvard University. An interpretive ethnographic study is proposed to perform an immersive study in an institutional setting that will generate rich and rich descriptions of the HTF program. From different ethnographic techniques, data analysis will be based on the principles of ethnographic and triangulation methods. (AU)
