Abstract

The fragmentary dynamics presents several peculiarities and encompasses numerous forms of socio-spatial differentiation. Neoliberal logic, increasingly present and active in the urban space have deepened social inequalities and other urban problems in Brazilian cities. The process of socio-spatial fragmentation is expressed in the materialization of ruptures that affect the quality of sociability between the different groups that make up the city and generates selectivities at the same time, diverging from the ideal of right to city, contributing to an increasingly heterogeneous and fragmented city model. The aim of this research is to identify the dynamics present in two small towns in the Maringá region (PR), and to analyze how the process of socio-spatial fragmentation manifests itself in the context of the interaction between these cities, and its consequences on the quality of life of the residents of the cities. To this end, methodological procedures will be adopted to allow, on the one hand, to characterize the history of the selected cities, in their possible processes of structuring and restructuring and, on the other hand, analyze the personal networks of the inhabitants of different socioeconomic profiles, seeking to understand the fragmentary dynamics in small towns.
