Abstract

The project focuses on the circulation of subjects, artifacts, knowledge and practices between Brazil and other countries of the world, from the early 19th century to the present day. Its initial milestone is the transfer of the Portuguese Court to Rio de Janeiro, when the first royal press was implanted in Brazilian lands and initiatives that would lead to the first general law of primary education, in 1827, and the creation of secondary and higher education courses, and the first normal schools. It reveals the appropriations, exchanges, sharing and exchanges of knowledge and actions at an international level since then, trying to understand how this symbolic universe inscribed marks of innovation in the different traditions that composed and compose educational knowledge and practices even today.
