Abstract

This research project aims to analyze the impact of material choice on the design of typical semi-monocoque aircraft with torque box wing structures and its impact on mechanical, economic and environmental characteristics. For this, bird impact analyzes following current regulatory requirements will be analyzed for different aluminum alloys and thicknesses on a representative wing. These mechanical analyzes will be related to the cost and environmental impact of a wing manufactured with the alloys and thicknesses studied using econometric and life cycle analyzes in the use phase. These data will be used to create Ashby type diagrams for the different materials studied and an analysis of these diagrams will be performed, obtaining conclusions about the influence of parameters of different materials on the structural efficiency and cost of the project.
