Abstract

It is believed that patients diagnosed with COPD, due to changes due to their pathophysiology, have slower kinetics of HR. It is also assumed that patients with the more severe staging of the disease have even more impaired kinetics and that this impairment may compromise the performance of these patients during exercise. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the impact of COPD severity on and off kinetics HR during exercise.METHODS: Prospective cross-sectional study, performed with individuals previously diagnosed with COPD, clinically stable for at least 3 months and at 1 month without changes in drug therapy. The recruitment of these patients will be through an active search of the patients attending the Pulmonology outpatient clinic of the University Hospital of UFSCar and Ambulatory of Pulmonology of the Center of Medical Specialties of São Carlos. During the first visit, participants will undergo an Advanced Pulmonary Function Test for diagnostic confirmation of COPD and echocardiography to exclude serious cardiovascular diseases. During the second visit, the volunteers will perform the 6-minute step test (TD6) as described by Arcuri et al. (AU)
