Abstract

The aim of this study is to evaluate the nutrient digestibility of the diet for buffaloes from three genetic groups (GG). The experiment will be performed at the Center for Tropical Research in Water Buffaloes, which is a unit of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science of Sao Paulo State University "Julio de Mesquita Filho", located in the Midwest of São Paulo State, Brazil. Seventy-five buffaloes from three genetic groups (Murrah, Mediterranean and Jafarabadi; 25 animals of each GG) in the post-weaning period will be used. Feces collection will be performed for three consecutive days, at intervals of 2, 4 and 6h after offered feeding. Samples of the offered feed and its orts will be incubated in situ for 264h and the remainder will be used for the analysis of Indigestible Neutral Detergent Fiber (iNDF). For the statistical analysis of the data, the procedure MIXED of the SAS statistical package (2002) will be used. (AU)
