Abstract The aim of this project is to evaluate the use of rations containing ground corn grain or corn flaked and the interaction of these processing methods with increasing levels of forage neutral detergent fiber (FNDF) in sugarcane bagasse inatura (BIN) for Nelore cattle finishing. Three experiments will be conducted. In experiment 1 (performance) will be evaluated four levels of inclusion of the FNDF in BIN (3.0, 6.0, 9.0 and 12.0% dry matter (DM)) with isonitrogenous diets containing processed corn in two forms: ground corn and flaked corn. 240 Nelore bulls will be used. The variable analyzed will be: dry matter intake (DMI), average daily gain (ADG), feed efficiency (AE), carcass evaluation, diets net energy, starch fecal levels and liver abscess. In experiment 2 (metabolism) 10 castrated male cattle of Nellore, cannulated in the rumen and duodenum will be used in two 5x5 Latin squares design. In the latin square 1 the diets contain corn ground and five levels of the FNDF in BIN (3.0, 6.0, 9.0, 12.0% and 15% of total DM). In the Latin square 2 corn flaked diets and the same five levels of the FNDF in BIN. The DMI, ruminal, microbial synthesis, nutrient digestibility in the rumen and post-rumen, blood parameters, nitrogen excretion, and feeding behavior of animals will be analyzed. In Experiment 3 (in vitro gas production) the 5 diets in experiment 2, the corn flaked and corn ground will be compared for total gas production, degradation of fibrous carbohydrates (DFC), total gas production from the degradation of non-fibrous carbohydrates (NFC), lag time (L), fibrous degradation rate of fibrous and non-fibrous carbohydrate, as well as the parameters of kinetics of ruminal degradation of NDF. | |
