Abstract Nowadays, TV shows are standing out and taking up significant time from people's lives. However, cientific studies that seek to reflect on the role or success of this phenomenon as an entertainment, in linguistics, are pretty limited. Based on these considerations, this project aims to analyze the constitution of the comic ethos of the character Lorelai Gilmore, considering the first season of Gilmore Girls (produced in 2000), in order to check ir there's a relation between this image and the series' repercution. For this matter, the study is specially based on the Rhetorical (ARISTOTLE, 2015, 1991) and New Rhetorical (PERELMAN; OLBRECHTS-TYTECA, 1996; REBOUL, 2004; MEYER, 2007; FERREIRA, 2010) theoretical assumptions, along with assumptions from specialists that deal with the comic types (MENDES, 2008; FRYE, 2013). | |
