The quality of a water body can be verified by investigating limnological parameters. The values of these parameters may be changed by land use and cover in the watershed and/or other natural and anthropogenic factors and processes. The basin of the Santo Anastácio River, in the state of São Paulo, is predominantly composed of pasture and agriculture areas and has major environmental impacts, such as erosive processes or siltation of water bodies. Therefore, is proposed the analysis of the use and land cover and the existing vegetation, through the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), for the years 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 in the upper course of the Santo Anastacio River, and subsequent correlation with limnological parameters of a sampling point that receives the waters corresponding to the drainage area of the Santo Anastácio river upper course. The limnological parameters to be used will be those available in the database of the Environmental Company of the State of São Paulo (CETESB) for the years 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018. Previously, a Principal Component Analysis will be applied to the parameters of CETESB database in order to retain only the parameters that best represent the original database. Subsequently, similarity tests will be applied on the representative limnological parameters, on the classes of land and use cover and on the vegetation density. The tests will be performed through the Cluster Analysis. The objective is to test the hypothesis that land and use cover and vegetation density are force functions that interferes in the water quality. (AU)
