Abstract

Rehabilitation of individuals in the acute or chronic phase due to urinary alterations encompasses people throughout the life cycle. In this context, the urinary catheterization is the main indication rehabilitation treatments. Objective: This study has the general objective to understand the rehabilitation process of the urinary catheter users and their caregivers according quality of life (QoL) theorical framework in the context of two academic health services. Material and methods: This study will be conducted by two steps: 1)Integrative review, under development, by means of the review question "What are the scientific evidences of nursing actions in QoL of children and adults using urinary catheterization and their caregivers in the context of rehabilitation? ", considering the scientific databases and inclusion criteria. 2) Quantitative, cross-sectional, analytical-observational and correlational study. This step will be conducted in the two academic health services, secondary healthcare, linked to Federal University in the state of São Paulo. The data collection will be through the application of two characterization and clinical questionnaires and one QoL specific instrument regard to age group. The data will be assessed by means of descriptive statistics and statistical tests using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS)version 22 (Windows). The results will be analyzed through literature review (Step 1) and presented as a discursive report, articles and summaries at scientific events (Step 1 and 2).Keywords: Nursing rehabilitation, urinary catheterization, urinary disorders, quality of life.
