Abstract

This work deals with specific ligands developed to sensing anions and cations of environmental, health and economic/industrial scope.Therefore, several molecules associated with azo groups are being studied and employed in our lab, such as HABA and dyes, to interact via non-covalent bonds with toxic species. Besides that, specific organic groups, especially amides, amines, and thiols, are being attached to the calix[4]arene matrix to increase the area of interaction, as well as constructing a more specific cavity-sized sensor, more suitable for the analyte.
