Abstract

The literature on internship supervision in psychology is extremely scarce, especially when it comes to the Behavioral-Analytical perspective, with a lack of systematic studies on supervision procedures. Considering the large number of diagnoses of comorbidity between anxiety and depression disorders (about 60% of cases), mainly for women, a solid training of therapists is necessary to deal with such demands. However, the research developed so far on internship supervision and training of future psychologists has not indicated consensus on what and how it should be taught for the practice of behavioral therapy, nor have they mostly considered aspects of the relationship between therapist and client. In view of this scenario, the present study aims to describe a process of supervision of therapists beginning to assist two clients with successful results in reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression confirmed by standardized instruments (BAI, BDI and PHQ-9 ), as well as investigating whether the recommendations given by the supervisor were made by the interns. For this, the behavior of the internship supervisor during the oral and written supervision procedures will be described using a protocol adapted from other studies, as well as the audios of the sessions will be investigated with the help of a checklist created from the recommendations given in supervision to investigate if the therapists performed the actions recommended by the supervisor.
