Abstract

Quality of life (QOL) is composed of many dimensions that can lead individuals relatively similar to manifest different levels of health and physical and emotional well-being. The literature has shown that the insufficient practice of physical activity acts as a risk factor for the occurrence of diseases, compromising QOL. There are inconsistencies in the literature on the relationship between QOL and objective and subjective measures of physical activity, in addition to the different intensities and domains of it. Objective: This study aims to analyze the relationship between different domains (physical activity at work, leisure and commuting) and physical activity intensities (mild, moderate and vigorous) with QOL in adults in a city in southeastern Brazil. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study with a sample of individuals aged 18 years or over living in the city of Santo Anastácio/SP. Participants will be selected at random according to the census sectors of the urban area of the municipality and their demographic proportionality, where the neighborhoods, streets, blocks and households of each sector will be randomized. The perception of quality of life will be assessed using the Brazilian version of the SF-36 questionnaire, which has 36 items and encompasses 8 domains of QOL (functional capacity, physical aspects, pain, general health, vitality, social aspects, social aspects, emotional and mental health). For the objective measurement of the practice of physical activity, the Actigraph GT3X accelerometer will be used and for the subjective measurement the Backed questionnaire will be used, which considers habitual physical activity in sports and leisure, physical activity performed in the work environment and displacement active, in addition to the total sum for global levels of physical activity. For the analysis of the socioeconomic status of the subjects, the Brazil Criterion for Economic Classification will be used, which considers aspects such as level of education, consumer goods and the number of certain rooms in each individual's home, classifying them in classes A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2, D and E. To analyze the relationship between the different domains of physical activity and the different intensities with QOL, Pearson or Spearman correlation (according to the normality of the data) will be used. The magnitude of these relationships will be verified by linear regression, both in the model not adjusted, as adjusted by sex, age and socioeconomic status. The statistical significance used will be 5% and the 95% confidence interval adopted. The statistical package used will be SPSS version 15.0.
