Abstract

The present study aims to evaluate the periapical lesion and its progression under chronic stress conditions and to evaluate the inflammatory modulation with the use of antidepressant drugs and adrenergic blockers. Subsequently, based on the results obtained from the first stage, a possible pharmacological pathway of inflammatory modulation will be investigated. Considering the positive effect of the use of selective serotonin receptor inhibitor antidepressants (SSRIs) in modulating the inflammatory response inperiodontal disease under stress conditions, fluoxetine will be used as SSRIs. The association of fluoxetine with the ²-adrenergic blocker (propranolol), which shows its ability to inhibit the possible side effects of its use, will also be evaluated. An animal model of periapicopathy and chronic stress will be used. The expression of RANKL, OPG and TRAP bone markers will be evaluated and their data will be analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistical tests, according to their normality, with parametric or nonparametric tests.
