Abstract

Topologies play an important role on Zariski's method for resolution of singularities. This is because, as soon as we have local uniformization for all valuations, we need to create a process to obtain a global resolution. Hence, it is important to understand the different types of structure on spaces of valuations. The main goal of this project is to understand and extend the results of Favre and Jonsson about the valuative tree. (AU)
