Abstract

The practice of osteosynthesis in long bones is essential for the training of the orthopedic surgeon, since it allows him to become familiar with works related to osteosynthesis, developing safety and technical ability to perform surgeries in this area. The present study aims to develop a long bone model with defined fractures that allows to apply the main osteosynthesis techniques with the use of DCP plate, external fixator, tie-in, cortical screw of compression effect and cerclage. After the preparation of the MOLs and their due fractures, the evaluation will be made by X-ray. It is hoped that this alternative method will meet the requirements of orthopedic practice involving the training of long bone osteosynthesis, which can be a viable and low cost option, that can be used in the teaching-learning process of students of the veterinary medicine course and professionals in related fields.
