Abstract The concept of housing at all levels is undergoing major changes that impact not only housing issues and ways of living, but also aspects that involve issues of environmental and social sustainability. Currently, precise metrics on how architecture contributes to the quality of life of users in social housing are not available. Becoming essential, carry out studies that assess broader welfare issues, which affect housing conditions, and that produce data based on evidence of non-measurable costs for society. Such as health risks, negative social behavior, family conflicts, instability within the neighborhood and urban violence. In this context, this research project aims to understand the concept of social costs, which are associated with design issues and their low architectural performance variables in the context of social housing. Through literary reviews and the analysis of user data, for the elaboration of a set of design parameters that enable the mitigation of social costs in social housing, and support the upgrading process existing stocks of social housing. | |
