Abstract

The clinical evaluation of neurogenic oropharyngeal dysphagia has no enough accuracy in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) individuals and this analysis has not reached consensus results yet. Objective: to analyze the accuracy of clinical swallowing findings in individuals with ALS through different methods. Method: 60 adult individuals with ALS will be analyzed, regardless of age, sex or stage of the disease. The clinical findings were compared with the fiberoptic endoscopic of swallowing (FEES) or fluoroscopy swallowing test (VFSS). Clinical methods to be compared with instrumental too. Group 1 (G1) will consist of 30 individuals who will perform the objective examination through FEES and group 2 (G2) of 30 individuals who will perform a examination through VFSS. Sensitivity test, specificity and positive, negative and accuracy predictive values will be performed. Result: it is expected to analyze the accuracy of the clinical evaluation and to identify the difference between the Gold Standard methods in this analysis. (AU)
