Abstract

The objective of this study is to calculate the dry deposition fluxes of the ions found in thin particulate matter in urban and agricultural places in the central region of São Paulo state. Concentration, size distribution and chemical composition of the thin particulate matter (PM) will be evaluated and related to its possible sources. The data collected, with the determination of air masses trajectory, may indicate if the sampled particulate matter is the result of transport from industrial regions, or if it was influenced by the expressive quantities of wildfires. The dry deposition velocity curves will be calculated using Zhang et al. (2001) and Nho-Kim, Michou and Peuch (2004) models, both associated to categorizations of the land (LUC) where the particulate matter might fall in the different year seasons. The samples will be taken in the environmental and meteorological monitoring laboratory (Unesp - Araraquara) using an optical sampler and a cascade impactor. Sample tests will be made every two weeks, with exceptions on rainy days, during 2020 and 2021. Data gathered will also quantify the dry deposition fluxes of the species present in the PM where potential health and environmental hazards may occur, and possible changes in the environment's properties. Therefore, it is important to evaluate the emissions of particulate matter, as well as the dry deposition fluxes of ionic species, to measure the consequences of anthropogenic actions in regions where the use of biomass-based fuel is intensified.
