Abstract

This research aims to investigate the production of care on the assistance of people whose life is coming to an end. Therefore, from a multi-sited ethnography, it focuses on two different universes. The first considers the care routines of professionals in the "Palliative Care Service" at the Hospital de Clínicas of the State University of Campinas (HC/UNICAMP). The second relates to the role played by death doulas in supporting people in their end-of-life period and in the active dying process. From these contexts, the study intends to contribute to the debate about end-of-life care and new paradigms in the management of death and dying, a field yet sparse in Brazil. In this sense, it seeks to comprehend how care, understood as a process, is built through practices, relations and dynamics that are locally mobilized in the act of caring. (AU)
