Abstract

The emotional intelligence that refers to the ability to perceive, understand, and manage the emotions, has been studied for many researchers for 30 years. The relation between emotional intelligence and personality traits has been investigated in countless studies, however, the study of this relationship with the personality disorders still is scarce. Thus, the purpose of this research is to verify the relationship between emotional intelligence and personality disorders. For this, about 100 adults of both sexes that will be invited to participate in the study will answer two emotional intelligence questionnaires that are part of Bateria de Inteligência Emocional, one related to perception and the other to emotional management, and to the Inventário Dimensional Clínico da Personalidade - II that assess personality disorders. After this data collection step, descriptive and inferential statistics will be performed to verify the research objective.
