Abstract This masters' project propounds to investigate, from the study of national press, the reception and circulation of Marie Laurencin work in Brazil between the 1940s and 1950s. The period stands out because of the significant increase od the presence of her work in expositions, in the media and in the Brazilian art market. Although dissipated in the following decades, this increase reveals an interest for her work in a fundamental moment in art's institutional and market development in Brazil, and integrates a broad context of modern art's global circulation. The research aims to comprehend, from the study of periodicals in Hemeroteca Digital Brasileira - calls for expositions, sales announcements and reports destined exclusively to the artist - under a transnational methodological perspective, the transitory enthusiasm for the artist in the country, its means of legitimation and its relation with the international artistic dynamics.
