Abstract

The anthropogenic activities intensification related to industrialization and agriculture have been increasing environmental pollution by cadmium (Cd), non-essential heavy metal to plant metabolism and Cd accumulation by plants, which can inhibit biochemical processes like photosynthesis, nutrient uptake and increases the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS). The literature reports the phytoremediation's technique as a sustainable approach to accumulate pollutants using plant growth regulators, such as brassinosteroids (BRs), can alleviate the Cd toxicity effects. We intend to test the nulity scientific hypothesis that the application of the BR phytoregulator do not alleviate oxidative stress caused to heavy metal disponibilities and will not allow plants to express their potential plant growth. The experiment will be performed with Brassica rapa L. seedlings under a double factorial scheme (2x3) with four times repetitions distributed in randomized blocks. The germination seeds, plant growth seedlings, lipidic peroxidation, photosynthetic pigments contents, antioxidant enzyme activity, and ionic accumulation in plant tissue will be evaluated. The averages of treatments will be compared by Tukey's test and when there is a significant difference by ANOVA we will consider the level of significance ± = 0.05.
