Abstract

Breast cancer is an aggressive cancer that is among the leading causes of death in women. The biology of the breast tumor is complex, heterogeneous, with rapid tumor growth and high occurrence of metastasis, increasing the rates of morbidity and mortality if not diagnosed early. Research on the use of the mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) in cancer therapy has been carried out due to its innate tropism for inflamed and tumor sites, making them a promising tool in the distribution of antitumor agents. However, its application is still controversial, because, depending on the tumor microenvironment present, MSC can both inhibit and favor tumor growth. Due to the divergence of results found in the current literature, it is necessary to update the antitumor efficacy of CTM. Thus, this project aims to evaluate the interaction and the effect of murine MSC derived from adipose tissue on breast cancer cells of murine lineage 4T1. Tumor growth and the ability of migration and invasion of the breast tumor in the presence of MSC will be evaluated in vitro and in vivo. It is hoped to gain a better understanding of the interaction between MSC and tumor cells in order to develop strategies for the treatment of breast carcinoma in the future and, thus, provide a more effective and safer therapy.
