Abstract

Birds represent a large group among vertebrates, with approximately 10,000 species occurring, of which 2,000 occur in Brazil. These have anatomical, physiological, biological and intrinsic habits characteristics, possibly due to adaptive and migratory processes. This paper emphasizes the importance of anatomical knowledge of wild birds for clinical and pathological interest. Thus, the aim of this project is to observe and characterize crop, gallbladder, cecum, uropygial gland and pneumatized or marrow-filled bone marrow in the long bones of various nondomestic bird species. For data collection these animals will be necropsied, and all data (date of autopsy, scientific name, popular name, order, family, age, sex, etc.) will be tabulated for analysis. It is expected to verify in which bird species, sex and age are observed the structures mentioned above and their morphological characteristics.
