Abstract

This research project aims to develop integrated systems for real-time monitoring of target compounds or neurometabolic markers of clinical relevance in in vitro and in vivo experiments in the brain of rats. Emphasis will be directed to the following compounds: glucose, lactate, pyruvate, hydrogen peroxide and oxygen. The proposed devices will consist of miniaturized electrochemical sensors, and emphasis will be given to the construction of systems that can be easily used and that have reliable and long-lasting operation. High selectivity and sensitivity in relation to the desired analytes will be achieved with platforms designed based on new materials. The sensors developed will have to satisfy analytical requirements (for example, reduced drift response, resistance to surface poisoning and high selectivity, accuracy and precision). (AU)
