Abstract

The main goal of this project is to study a new technique for the preparation of marine NaCl crystals, in order to obtain an efficient luminescence and to be able to have a better control of the amount of sample to be used in each aliquot, since this material has a high sensitivity when exposed to ionizing radiation and can be used in luminescent dosimetry. With the purpose of developing a dosimeter, from materials of low cost and easy manufacturing. We are going to carry out the growth of the crystals using samples with concentrated sodium chloride solution, obtained directly from sea water, in a controlled manner. Posteriorly, we are going to use X ray diffraction (XRD) to analyze the quality of the crystals and to inhibit the hygroscopic property, we will waterproof the crystals in the aliquots. Therefore, we are going to examine the luminescence emission from the exposure of the samples to doses of beta irradiation analyzing the OSL.
