Abstract

Currently, the research group has a custom-made system called LUMI 22, funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP), process no. 2019/05915-3. The system is operational and allows for obtaining results from radioluminescence (RL) and thermoluminescence (TL), as well as TL spectroscopy. RL is a type of luminescence that occurs during the incidence of ionizing radiation on a material, whereas in TL, the material is pre-irradiated, and light emission occurs after the material is heated. In spectral TL, the thermoluminescent curve is obtained as a function of temperature and wavelength. The goal of the second phase of the project is to implement the Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) technique in the LUMI 22 system, which is essential for medical and personal dosimetry of ionizing radiation. OSL allows for luminescence emission through the recombination of charges optically released in previously irradiated materials. The integration of TL, RL, and OSL techniques will enable the study of defects in crystalline structures and the characterization of luminescent centers in various materials. Additionally, a user-friendly operating interface will be designed, focusing on system simplicity.
