Abstract

The Mato-Grosso Pantanal region is home to one of the largest biodiversities in the world. However, the local intense agro-pasture activities have been assigned to harmful events for both society and the environment. This process makes it necessary to understand the land use and cover dynamics evolution in this region. Remote Sensing, aligned with classification, spatial metrics, and data regression techniques, allows us to automatically obtain information from the Earth's surface and foment to verify relationships between the land cover change dynamics with the region's fire occurrence. In this context, the objective of this study comprises the use of Remote Sensing data and the abovementioned tools in order to analyze the multi-temporal dynamics of land use and cover occupation, and consequently, to map areas susceptible to fires and find evidence regarding the local impacts caused by the intense anthropic activity.
