Abstract

The aim is to investigate the question of personality in Bergson's Philosophy, that concerned him for a long period of his philosophical production. We will seek to explore the meaning of the conditions required to think the notion of person, both the properties of consciousness as duration and memory, as the role played by the body, since the human person is not dissociated from externality. Bergson proposes a metaphysical background, something fundamental and first that conditions any statement about personality and that also authorizes us, for the first time, to think of it as temporality. We will try to answer a question internally articulated with the problem of the uniqueness of duration: is it possible to defend a general conception of personality? It is about reflecting on the relationship between singular personalities and their generalization. (AU)
