Abstract

The general objective of the project is to analyze the changes that occurred in the agrarian space of the State of São Paulo in the last two decades, based on the interpretation of the results of the Agricultural Censuses 1995/1996, 2006 and 2017, starting from the mapping and graphic modeling to subsidize the regional analysis. Thus, the following topics contained in the listed Censuses will be mapped and analyzed: "work, income, financing/credit, land, technology, production, characteristics of producers and establishments". The guiding thread that corroborates for analysis is that, since the 1990s, significant changes have occurred in Brazilian Agriculture. We mention the transition from a model based on the modernization of Agriculture that began in the 1960s and that was altered by the political and economic context present in the country between the 1980s and 1990s, with the 1999 currency crisis and the end of the Military Government for a new strategy of capitalist accumulation in the field, Agribusiness. In this sense, based on the process of reorganizing Brazilian Agriculture, we propose to analyze its effects for the São Paulo agricultural space based on data from the Agricultural Census and guided by a theoretical-methodological proposal of graphic modeling and extensive mapping. With that, we indicate not only a systematic mapping of censuses data, but the use of the map as a means for synthesis and analysis of the production of the geographical space. To achieve the proposed objective, the following methodological procedures will be used: comparative data analysis, mappings guided by the bibliography and works from exploratory fields for dialogue between the statistical data organized in maps, with the bibliography and with the empirical reality presented.
