Abstract

Brazil is experiencing an increase in the population aged 60 or over. This process occurs accompanied by biopsychosocial changes, which are influenced by several factors, reflecting on healthy and active aging. Achieving the right to adequate housing is a challenge, due to the growth of cities and the demographic transition process. The elderly population increasingly depends on State initiatives to gain access to housing and decent conditions in old age, regardless of socioeconomic development level. However, there is a need for studies that investigate the housing characteristics, as well as the profile of the elderly in a given location, in order to deepen the knowledge regarding the socio-spatial insertion of the elderly. The aim of this study is to analyze the living conditions and functional capacity of elderly people living in the CECAP neighborhood in Araraquara-SP. It is a quantitative and qualitative, descriptive, exploratory and transversal research. The research participants will be elderly registered in public health that serves the neighborhood. The interviews they will be conducted with semi-structured questions and using the Brazilian Oars Multidimensional Funcional Assessment Questionnaire (BOMFAQ) to assess functional capacity. The results are expected to become relevant for the development of public housing policies aimed at the elderly population.
