Abstract The research that will be developed in this project is related to the development and automation of an experimental apparatus of ultrafast spectroscopy, which will be used in the future for studies of ultrafast temporal dynamics in organic molecules and inorganic compounds, for example nanocrystals and glasses. The main objective will be the assembly of the degenerated and non-degenerated pump-probe technique with a temporal resolution of around 200 femtoseconds. In addition, the technique will cover a wide spectral range from UV to infrared. This will be resolved in polarization, with the possibility of controlling the polarization of the excitation beam in the different possible polarizations. This technique will aim, in the short term, to study the population dynamics of organic compounds that present light-induced photoisomerization processes, which have a relaxation of the excited state for the fundamental states mediated by a conical intersection process. These processes occur on the picosecond time scale and are highly dependent on the excitation energy. The aspects of this project are extremely current and of great importance for basic and applied sciences, since the characterization of organic and inorganic materials can bring information about excited electronic states and how they behave when interacting with optical fields with different polarizations and not degenerate.
