Abstract

As the population longevity increases, there is also a higher incidence of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, which is the most common cause of the dementia syndrome. Although its causes are still unknown, studies have shown that the main leading mechanism of AD is oxidative stress, which also plays an active role in the cell aging process. This is characterized by the loss of division ability of cells, developing resistance to apoptosis and therefore becoming senescent. In the context of treatment for diseases related to aging, senolytics, including those from natural products, have been extensively researched, as they are drugs that have the ability to maximize lifespan and delay the onset of disease by eliminating senescent cells. Thus since natural products are easy for the population to have access, it is relevant to study such senolytic effect.
