Abstract

The magnitude of the urban problems of the city of São Paulo comes to a stage unprecedented, as both historical economic as urban policy problems seem to have mitigated, revealing the difficulties in the realm of ideas and solutions for the city. In relation to social housing, these stalemates are more evident as the massive public investments have not represented a qualitative change in different scales of the metropolis. Despite some important examples of housing solutions in "Paulista" architecture indicating a more comprehensive proposal for urban space, there are no systematic studies that focus on this approach. The objective of this research is to identify the spatial patterns (understood as the relationship between architecture and city) in the projects of Conjunto Nacional, projected by David Libeskind and built over the 1950s and 1960's, in São Paulo - a metropolitan area of São Paulo. In this sense, this research proposes a) spatial analysis of the typologies; b) the relationship of these typologies with the existing city; c) the transformation of these spaces of habitat in the development of the city; d) the reception and incorporation of these alternatives to discipline and e) the consolidation of the documents of these projects for future research. This project is part of wider research, coordinated by the teachers Luiz Recamán and Leandro Medrano (FAUUSP), dedicated to the study of all housing projects built in the metropolitan area of São Paulo At this new phase, the project includes the participation of Helena Ayoub Silva, Marta Bogéa and Milton Braga.
