Abstract

Postmodern therapeutic approaches, such as Collective Narrative Practice (CNP), are marked by a set of paradigmatic changes, including the change from the idea of a self-contained, essentialized and stable self over time to the idea of a narrative self, dynamically and socially and historically situated. The CNP's proposal is to mobilize so that emotional pains are not only faced individually, but to propose social actions that contribute so that other people and communities can benefit from the construction of collective narratives (Denborough, 2008). CNP has few studies in Brazil, but it has wide international repercussions when offering tools for building and structuring groups considering that many sufferings are related to social and cultural issues, such as violence, injustice and abuse. With this, in this project, we seek to understand the meanings about participation in a group with women with fibromyalgia inspired by the CNP. Interviews with the participants of this group will be carried out after its completion. The interview script will address issues related to the group process, based on the principles of the CNP, in order to understand the meanings produced by each participant and the effects on their lives. Thematic content analysis will be used to analyze the results. Bearing in mind that studies related to CNP are recent in Brazil, from this work it is aimed to expand the work on this theme, facilitating future research to be carried out. In addition to offering insights into this practice in a setting with this specific population, women with fibromyalgia. Finally, there is a growing interest of professionals from various countries in the PNC and the possibility of this practice being applied in different contexts also justifies the importance of this research.
