Abstract

To evaluate the effectiveness of a parental and preventive violence against children program (ACT - Raising Safe Kids), by comparing adolescent mothers' samples with adult mother's samples of children in early childhood. Specific aims: a) to compare adults and adolescent mothers' educational practices before and after ACT intervention; b) to compare behavior problems of adults and adolescent mother's children before and after ACT intervention; c) to examine the program effectiveness by analyzing the effects of childhood violence history and adolescent maternal mental health. Sample: 50 adolescent mothers and 50 adult mothers of 2-6 child years old. Data collection: Will include three phases: pretest (1 session), ACT intervention, and posttest (1 session). ACT questionnaire, and Parenting and Family Adjustment Scale (PAFAS) will be applied in Pretest to evaluate the educational practices, Parenting Sense of Competence Scale (PSOC), to evaluate the parental competence sense and Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ), to evaluate the child behaviors, and Escala de Projeto de Vida para Adolescentes (EPVA), to evaluate the adolescent mother's life project. The Characterization Form and Brazilian Economic Classification Criterion will be applied. It will be reapplied the ACT, PAFAS, PSOC, SDQ and EPVA questionnaire in Posttest, and adding, will be evaluated the maternal adversity childhood history (ACE-The Adverse Childhood Experiences) and mother's depression indicators (PHQ-9 - Patient Health Questionnaire). Data analyses: Descriptive and inferential statistical analyzes will be performed. Two-way mixed design ANOVA will be performed to examine the effect of interaction between the group variables (adolescent mother's vs. adult mother's; mother's with a history of violence vs. mother's without a history of violence; adolescent mother's with depression indicators vs. adolescent mother's without depression indicators) and moment (pre- and posttest). Analyzes will be processed by SPSS (23.0 version) and the level of significance adopted will be 5%. (AU)
