Abstract

Reverie is a concept of considerable clinical use, introduced by Bion in the psychoanalytic field in 1959 and 1962, but it is not yet extensively explored in academic research. This notion gained central use in several contemporary authors, such as Antonino Ferro, the Rocha Barros and Thomas Ogden. The latter has an especially creative use of the term, and approaches it from its intersubjective perspective (Ogden, 1996, 1998). The therapist's daydreams and somatic sensations can be useful to understand dynamics of the therapeutic relationship that are not very evident and not yet symbolized.
