Abstract This project seeks to advance the theoretical front of the field known as quantum thermodynamics. By following recent results reported by our group, its primary focus will be pursuing a top-down analysis (from a quantum universe to its parties) for determining the effective dynamics of constituents of a quantum universe and hence trying to establish energetic and entropic fundamental relationships as those seen in the laws of thermodynamics. Such an approach provides means for obtaining the basics of open-systems without having to invoke approximations or special regimes. Examples of those basic quantities are the system's effective Hamiltonian, which can present modifications beyond the standard Lamb-shift correction, and its dissipator, here determined without the weak coupling regime and Markovianity assumptions. The characterization of the role of quantum correlations on those quantities, as well as in fluctuation relations, can potentially tighten even more connections between Information Theory and Thermodynamics, providing more evidence that quantum correlations shall be considered a physical resource for augmenting processes.
