Effect of hydroelectrolytic beverages on bulk fill resins

Abstract

The practice of a physical activity is increasingly frequent, and along with it the consumption of hydroelectrolytic beverages. Several beverages can interfere in the physical and mechanical properties of conventional composite resins, being of extreme importance to evaluate the effects of hydroelectrolytic beverages also on Bulk Fill resins, which have been increasingly used in restorative procedures. Thus, the objective of this in vitro study is to evaluate the effects of hydroelectrolytic beverages on the surface roughness and microhardness of Bulk Fill resins. It will be made 60 composite resin samples divided into 3 groups: Conventional composite resin Z250 (3M), Composite resin Bulk Fill One (3M), and Composite resin Opus Bulk Fill (FGM). Subsequently, each composite resin will be subdivided into 2 groups: Lemon Gatorade (AMBEV Ind. Brasileira) and distilled water (control). The immersion of the specimens in the drinks will be done during 15 days (5 minutes, 3x a day). Analyses of surface roughness (Ra) and surface microhardness (KHN) will be performed before and after 15 days of immersion in the beverages. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) analysis will also be performed to evaluate the surface morphology of the specimens.
