Abstract

The Resource Description and Access (RDA) is a set of data elements, guidelines, and instructions for the creation of metadata for aiming the description and access of resources in the digital environment, published in 2010, and intending to be projected as an international standard accepted by the librarianship community. In 2016, when the discussion of the necessity of restructuring and redesigning RDA started, appeared the RDA Toolkit Restructure and Redesign (3R) Project, completed in December 2020, with the aim to align the current RDA with the IFLA Library Reference Model (IFLA LRM), a conceptual model of the bibliographic universe that consolidates the FR Family models. Thus, it is questioned which is IFLA LRM's contribution and impact on the cataloging practices in RDA. To this end, this research proposes the execution of a Systematic Literature Review (SLR), in order to identify the subject's state of the art, and of an applied study, which will consist in a demonstration of a descriptive record's construction by means of the RDA update, compatible with IFLA LRM, starting from the identification of use cases and initiatives' experience identified by the analysis of the scientific literature. It is believed that IFLA LRM, from its consolidation and use in the librarianship community, can enhance the cataloging practice in the adoption of RDA, resulting in bibliographic catalogs being more open and linked.
