Abstract

This project, destined for an undergraduate student of Computer Sciences or similar, entails designing and creating an online database of reference collection images of phytoliths, starch grains, and carbonized fruits and seeds. The database must be comprehensive, simple to use, and of high enough quality to be useful to archaeobotanists searching for taxonomic identifications of plant remains from archaeological sites. The aim is to create a useful tool for researchers studying Amazonian archaeobotany both in Brazil and around the world. (AU)
