Abstract This project seeks to understand the visual strategies used in the formation of the identity of political leaders in the contemporary world. For this, we will analyze images of the current Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro and the maintenance of his support base within social networks. Selected videos and photographs of the president will be highlighted at events promoted by him, considering their repercussion through the interpretation offered by journalists and academics in the media. As a counterpoint, we will observe the engagement that the same events provoked in the president's official social networks. It is intended to demonstrate that, despite the technological interference in contemporary political dynamics, the approach to facts based on half-truths is still recurrent in images such as those that will be analyzed in the research.
