Abstract

Lizards and snakes belong to the order Squamata which comprises a wide range of individuals present in different regions of the world and with significant representation in Brazilian territory. In recent years, due to the notorious increase in the creation of reptiles for pets, as well as their permanence in zoos and the use of scientific research, there has been an increase in the frequency of patients in routine veterinary care and the consequent increase in the demand for veterinary care special, since due to anatomical and physiological peculiarities, the physical examination of the urogenital tract is limited and the clinical signs of the diseases that affect them are presented as non-specific, thus highlighting the importance of using complementary imaging tests for evaluation of the organs and systems that comprise it. Furthermore, the imaging evaluation of the genital system has been specified as an important tool to aid during there production of reptiles in captivity, although data regarding the imaging anatomy is scarce in the consulted literature. Therefore, this objective study describes the imaging anatomy of the structures of the urogenital tract of Squamata order reptiles, non-venomous, healthy, by computed tomography, radiography, and ultrasonography, describes the image of the normality patterns of the structures, which contributed to a more accurate elucidation and diagnostic interpretation regarding the diseases, helping veterinarians in the prognosis of patients, in addition to complementing the information in the literature.(AU)
