Abstract

In the Castilian society of the 15th century, where the concern with the training of religious and clerics grew, collections of sermons began to circulate aiming at the improvement of preaching in the vernacular. These collections were both sermon reportations and manuals with ready-made templates for preachers to craft their own sermons tailored to a specific audience. By taking the book Evangelios moralizados, by Dominican Juan López, as the research target, this study will isolate the small narratives present in it to highlight the edifying role they played at that time. More precisely, this research will examine the edifying functions assigned to examples for the fixation of conduits. (AU)
