Abstract

Violence against the LGBT population is a latent global problem and universities, inserted in society, reproduce forms of this violence. This Undergraduate Research Project seeks to analyze the literature production about the actions taken by Brazilian and foreign universities regarding the prevention and overcoming of violence against the LGBT population. For this, a bibliographical survey will be carried out in different digital repositories, nationally and internationally - such as the Scielo platform, in Brazil, and Web of Science, emphasizing that other databases may be added throughout the project. Based on the different academic productions about the theme, it will be possible to locate the existence or absence of strategies and tools that aim to overcome LGBTphobia, whether educational or not, in university spaces. Based on bibliographic research and on the Critical Communicative Methodology, which starts from the recognition of elements that promote violence and identifies strategies that can prevent it, this project intends to analyze the cases in which prevention actions were successful and to qualify the possible limitations of this process regarding LGBTphobia. In addition to broadly understanding violence against the LGBT population in society and in universities, in general, and specifically, it intends to locate effective ways to overcome this form of violence, based on proposals that favor more egalitarian relationships and academic development for all.(AU)
