Abstract

The aim of this in vitro study will be to investigate the effects of different mouthwashes during tooth bleaching with 10% carbamide peroxide in a nanoparticulate composite resin. Cylindrical samples will be prepared with a nanoparticulate composite resin and will be randomized into 4 groups (n=12) according to the mouthwash to be used: distilled water (control), Listerine Cool Mint Zero Alcohol, Listerine Cool Mint, and Listerine Whitening Extreme. All samples from all groups will be bleached with 10% carbamide peroxide for 4 hours for 14 days. Concomitant to bleaching, 2 applications of mouthwash will be carried out per day, one application performed before and one application performed after the bleaching gel. Color analyzes will be performed using reflectance spectroscopy (L, a, b, E*ab, E00), surface roughness (Ra), and surface microhardness (SMH) at baseline (T1) and after 14 days of bleaching and application of mouthwashes (T2). Data will be subjected to appropriate statistical analysis considering a significance level of 5%.(AU)
