Abstract

The literature points to evidence that supports the biopsychosocial model for the treatment of chronic pain. Thus, it becomes relevant for the health professional to know the sociodemographic characteristics and social aspects, such as the social support and self-care network, of the users monitored in the health services, because understanding these characteristics helps in a more accurate diagnosis and in the elaboration of care plans adapted to the difficulties of each individual. This reality does not yet occur for all fibromyalgia syndrome (SF) patients, as many health promotion actions are implemented without considering the specifics of the target audience. Thus, the objective of this study is to assess the influence of sociodemographic variables on self-care and social support in people with DES. People with DES will be included in the study according to the diagnostic criteria of the American College of Rheumatology 2016, of both sexes. We will use an online form that features: sociodemographic characterization questionnaire, the Revised Self-Care Agency Rating Scale (ASAS-R,), the Medical Outcomes Study Social Support Scale (SSS-MOS), and the Fibromyalgia Knowledge Questionnaire (FKQ). For data analysis, it is intended to use a descriptive statistic of the data sample. It is expected that with the results of the present study, there will be greater knowledge about the interaction between self-care, social support, knowledge about the disease, and sociodemographic issues, which may assist in the creation of improvement strategies on self-care and support of this population.(AU)
