Abstract

Fibromyalgia is a rheumatologic chronic syndrome that interferes with the individual's functional capacity. Self-care may interfere with fibromyalgia-since it is related to the act of having dominion over its own life, investing itself in power and consequently the way in which this individual conducts its body and its mind in space, to interfere in the quality of life. The aim of the study is to evaluate the symptoms of fibromyalgia and to verify the association of pain, symptom severity and quality of life variables with patient self-care. Will participate in the study 40 women who meet the diagnostic criteria of the 2010 American College of Rheumatology (ACR), aged between 19 and 59 years and with complete elementary education. Self-care will be assessed with the Revised Self-Care Agency Rating Scale, pain with Visual Analog Pain Scale and Generalized Pain Index (GDI), severity of symptoms with the Symptom Severity Scale (SS) and the quality of life with the Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire (QIF). The level of significance used will be ± d0.05. (AU)
