Abstract

The Santos Continental Shelf (SCS) is one of the adjacent areas to the Santos Basin less covered by seismic surveys, so it still lacks a well-established tectonostratigraphic framework, both at regional and semi-detailed scale. So far, few studies addressed the tectonic and stratigraphic aspects of the Cenozoic in the SCS. The main ones are the works of Almeida and Carneiro (1998), Zalán and Oliveira (2005), Maia et al (2010) and Reis et al (2013).Thus, this project intends to investigate the Santos Continental Shelf, from the point of view of its tectonic and sedimentary evolution, comprising cenozoic sea level changes and its correlations with cenozoic climate variations. This will be done through the analysis of seismic profiles surveyed with the Sparker 7.5 kJ multichannel seismic equipment (Process 19/13755-6) and Streamer (Process 19/13430-0), recently acquired in the context of the Thematic Project "Sea-Level changes and Global Monsoon System: Clues from marine cores in Brazil" (Process 16/24946-9).(AU)
